My question was: In what pragramm is a configuration file from another path than the backend read? There is only one configuration file installed so how can a second one be read???.

We are really interested to know! It would help us if it's correct.

First off, I have not changed the code in any way.

There ARE two configuration files installed on my system, one at:

/components/com_garyscookbook/config.garyscookbook.php

and one at:

/administrator/components/com_garyscookbook directory/config.garyscookbook.php

When I go into the joomla control panel and go to Gary's Cookbook and then settings and save settings, they are saved to:

/components/com_garyscookbook/config.garyscookbook.php

When I go back into settings the default settings are still there because it is reading them from:

/administrator/components/com_garyscookbook directory/config.garyscookbook.php

When I bring up joomla and display the Gary's cookbook from the front-end as a user, it is reading the config file from:

/administrator/components/com_garyscookbook directory/config.garyscookbook.php

I know this because when I go in and manually edit this config file, things change.

As I understand you have a new installation of the cookbook.

Please
1. uninstall the cookbook component
2. check that the component directory in frontend directory and backend directory are deleted ( not there )
3. Download the zip package from this site new.
4. Install it with the Joomla! installation procedure. Not any manuell copying!

Please come back if it still not works.

Alright, I have removed the component, checked the MySQL database and verified the entries are gone from there and also gone into the server via shell and checked the directories and all GCB directories are gone, both administrator and regular.

Downloaded and installed new package;

Installation/Upgrade package for Gary's Cookbook (from V 3.0.X) to V 3.0.16.1

New installation! Version 3.0.16.1

Now please change the settings to your likings
Click on the button below to go to the configuration

I went in and changed the setting; Introduction from;

Here is the new formattable Introtext from Gary´s Cookbook you can change it in the Backend of Gary´s Cookbook.

to

The Patrol's Outdoor Cookbook

and saved. I reopened settings and it was back to;

Here is the new formattable Introtext from Gary´s Cookbook you can change it in the Backend of Gary´s Cookbook.

I checked the file "/components/com_garyscookbook/config.garyscookbook.php" and the setting shows,
Code:
"$ag_introtext = '<p><strong><span style="color:#ff0000;">The Patrol\'s Outdoor Cookbook</span></strong></p>';"

I go to "/administrator/components/com_garyscookbook/config.garyscookbook.php" and the setting there shows,
Code:
$ag_introtext = '<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Here is the new formattable Introtext from Gary´s Cookbook you can change it in the <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Backend of Gary´s Cookbook</span></strong>.</span></p>';

I repeated these steps twice to make sure, not sure what to do next.

It sounds like "Erro after Update" www.garyscookbook.de/en/kochbuch-forum/2...ro-after-update.html is having the same problem. (bullet 1)

Hi dplace,

I don't think it's "the same problem". If you click on his link you'll see there is a recipe showing up.

Well, to be more then 99.999 % sure that there is no bug by mistake included in the installation file, I installed a complete new Joomla ( 1.5.21 as I had it stored).

After installing Gary's Cookbook 3.0.16.1 everything is it should. No 2 configuration files. In Frontend the changed introduction text appears.

I didn't mention the check of the database tables but to a check that the file directories are empty.

Sorry! I can't do more for you. I can't hunt a ghost down. :(
